BIWHM Movie Plot Details and Speculations

Variety.com on Dec 13 2006 noted that the plot of Brief Interviews with Hideous Men as "Julianne Nicholson stars as a graduate student coping with a recent breakup by conducting interviews with various men." Combine this with the suggestion that at the very least interviews #2, #15, #19 and #51 will be incorporated we can begin to get an idea of the content.

Interview #2 (page 77 of the hardback collection). The subject of this interview pursues relationships "very fast and hard in the beginning" only to break things off as soon as his partner is serious too.

Interview #15 (p.15) The subject reflects on his father's (not the subject as I mentioned in the previous post) insistence that he be "hog tied" or worse when he becomes enraged.

Interview #19 (p.98) The subject reveals his attraction to smart women.

Interview #51 (p.97) The subject who always thinks, "What if I can't?".

Given that the IMDB page lists Lucy Gordon playing the role of a hitchhiker it suggests than #20 will also be included.

Interview #20 (p.245) The subject recounts the story of a one night stand's brutal sexual encounter while she is hitchhiking.

Finally, Krasinski's reading of #14 during Jest-Fest suggest he might be a fan of that one too.

Interview #14 (p.14) The subject recounts his strange outcry, "Victory for the Forces of Democratic Freedom!".

It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting film.
