I've spent quite a bit of time setting up the site using the Joomla open source content management system (CMS). Believe it or not, this has been in the works for over a year. I experimented with a number of CMS setups that did not quite let me do what I wanted. I'm so glad it is finally done.
I have almost migrated the old content, but there are problems here and there, particularly broken links (archive.org hunting is next on my list), some old java sidebars, and I am not totally happy with some of the formatting and organisation. It will get there.

The other reason I wanted to get this done is that my first child is due on Jan 23rd. Yep, next week (if all goes to plan). My hope is that the cms will make updating and organising things a whole lot easier.
Down the track I'll re-enable the xml feeds (I've just got to sort out how I want them automated), and add membership type stuff with the hope that readers will be able to submit news directly to the site! Exciting stuff. All possible but I am taking my time.
