I was actually wondering if the whole 'Up Simba' McCain piece would reappear in some form as a result of recent events and it looks like it will. I say looks like because I have not had 100% confirmation that it is 'Up Simba', but the title and page count (including the foreword) suggest it most likely is.

 

On the 1st of June 2008 Back Bay Books will publish the paperback, McCain's Promise: Aboard the Straight Talk Express with John McCain and a Whole Bunch of Actual Reporters, Thinking About Hope. It includes a foreword from Jacob Weisberg, and runs to 144 pages. It is available for pre-order at amazon now.

The Brief Interviews movie is, as I understand it, still in post-production.

 

Today we have another little info release from the MTV Movie Blog: Krasinski Prepares To Conduct ‘Interviews With Hideous Men.

A short little NYT interview with John Krasinski that reveals just a little bit more about the development process of the Brief Interviews movie due for release this year. Tackling Directing and  George Clooney.

A DFW work in progress is to appear in the February issue of Harper's as reported over at The National Post .

Elizabeth Azzolini and Aaron Fai are reading Infinite Jest in 31 days and blogging the whole experience. Day nine has just been posted over at The Infinite Jest Challenge. A great read so far.

Bad news, the DFWiki, a wiki for all things DFW hosted here and run by howling fantods readers, was to be launched a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the hosting server crash that some of you may have noticed messed with the wiki database. I am currently securing and recovering what I can. There was not heaps there (mostly scaffolds for you all to go crazy) but some wonderful work by the original working party is in a state of flux that hopefully can be recovered.

Word has it that "The Compliance Branch", a new short story by David Foster Wallace, is in the February 08 issue of Harper's. For those of you that recall DFW's 2006 Le Conversazioni piece, I have been told that it is the same story.
